Cate Dak

A friend from Xi’an recommended this restaurant and went with us. Really excited to the try the large noodles known from the region. We ordered the Xi’an 3 in 1 noodle (hand pulled noodle, tomato egg, fried pork, hot oil, coriander, spring onions and sesame seeds) and Cate Dak Mixed Noodle (hand pulled noodle, tomato beef, fried pork, hot oil, coriander, spring onions and sesame seeds). Both of the dishes were really good. The Cate Dak Mixed Noodle had a more liquid sauce while the Xi’an 3 in 1 had a more solid stew sauce. Both were great but just a slightly different texture. Also the Cate Dak Mixed Noodle was more savory vs Xi’an 3 in 1. Great food and service! Definitely recommend.

Cate Dak is one of my favourite places in the Netherlands for authentic, hand-pulled, X'ian noodles. The noodles are just absolutely amazing. The X'ian 3 in 1 noodle is my favourite because (like the name suggests) you get three flavors is one bowl. Great for people who can't choose! The Chinese burger is also very tasty! The interior is quite plain and they have an open kitchen. When you want to order you need to go to the counter but they bring the food when it is ready. It can take sometime when it is busy but the noodles are worth the wait. It is unfortunate that they are not open as frequently. They are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and only open between two time frames on the other days. I find this dissapointing since I had a few times that I wanted to go but couldn't because it wasn't open.

Always a pleasure to eat here. The noodles are always perfectly cooked. They sometimes have seasonal specials. The owner is so nice! When he experiments with dishes, he gives you a little taste. He always wants to know more feedback. It really is a pleasure to eat here. I always try to have dinner here at least once a month. The only thing they can work on is their workflow when it’s busy. Usually you get your dishes fast, but sometimes it takes a long while when they are busy, like they don’t know how to work on multiple orders at a time. They still get 5 stars!!

I’ve been coming to Cate Dak for years. I don’t even live in Rotterdam anymore - but when I visit I always bring my friends and family to this restaurant. The Cate Dak mixed noodle is SENSATIONAL - it has a beautiful sauce, tender beef, deliciously spicy, and lovely crunchy pieces of cabbage that are cooked perfectly with the thick wide noodles. I will always keep coming back. Even London doesn’t have a Xi’an noodle like Cate Dak. Deserves the highest praise for the food! The service is always thoughtful. Thank you for bringing this food to Rotterdam! Make sure to mix you noodles well and enjoy!!

Authentic, Good service and really good food! Cate Dak will be one of my favorite Chinese diners. Staff is very kind and helpful with food allergies. Recommend you make reservation. We ordered 4 dishes and a tea pot: - Xi'An 3-in-1 - Sticky Rice with Date paste and Red Beans - Chinese Burger - Lamb Soup - Pot of Longjing Black Tea. (refillable, ask staff) Highly recommend Xi'An 3-in-1 noodle and sticky rice dishes!
